No Desktop
Recently, one of our office computers came up with an error message; I'm not
sure how, but staff restarted the computer, and now no desktop icons, start button, or taskbars will appear. We just have a blank desktop (background pic is there). We can access programs through the Task Manager, but that is a pain. Any suggestions? Thanks! |

sometimes you can
open up the task manager and "kill" the process called explorer.exe then go the first tab in the task manager and launch a new task called explorer.exe if the above method displays the desktop appropriately then there may be a problem with the registry hive loading. -- db·´¯`·...¸)))º "Vicki" wrote in message ... Right click on Desktop and select Arrange Icons by, and Show Desktop icons. If that works we can look at the other missing items. -- Hope this helps. Try booting to Safe Mode. If that works, run a System Restore back to the day before the problem began.
