After I read this, I checked and found CCleaner and Malwarebytes were
both gone. Nice of them to do this without providing any information.

Another reason I don't use MS utilities of any kind.

Neither of those are MS utilities...

I know. I think he is using Windows Defender. I am on an iPad and new era
at it.

Apparently, Windows Defender runs without any input from me. I have
never knowingly run it.

My copy of CCleaner is still working & havn't been disabled/removed.

Also running Defender. Did have a nag about needing to scan the
computer when I left the computer on all day. However, I've been
shutting down the computer 2-3 times a day, depending, & havn't
received any notification that my computer needed a scan.

Makes me think that the scanning is automatically done on a shutdown.

Mine are both still there. If you check out Defender, there's a section
called exclusions that allows you to prevent it from scanning named
files, folders or processes. It's greyed out and non-operative in my
system.

I did the free 'upgrade' from Win7 SP1 HP 64 bit to Win 10 and Windows
Defender stayed off, just like it was before I upgraded (I had turned it off
before I upgraded).
I use MBAM pro and CCleaner and they both survived the transition. I also
use the free Avast and it survived just fine also.
Like Bucky suggested, just install them again to solve that problem.
May want to disable Windows Defender.

I think it also depends if you have a third party virus program. When I
uninstalled McAfee, to move to a different version of the software,
Windows Defender can on, When I reinstalled the new version of McAfee it
was turned off.

I think you need to look somewhere else for the answer to your
"gone" software. I use both CCleaner and Malwarebytes on my Windows
10 computer, and both still exist right where they always were.
