Default Hdmi sound?

Hey all !.. May not be the right place to ask but I am curious (and also
about to switch monitors) The new monitor is hdmi but I do not wish to
use it for sound. Does anyone here know if I can still use my existing
sound card with this connection or does the hdmi kind of take over?

Sound is routable.

You get to choose which output path (analog or digital in this case),
gets the sound samples.

Not to worry, you can adjust it.

A guiding principle, is look at the icon in the lower right
corner of the desktop, right click and have a look around.
The properties of sound are buried in there.

This photo sharing site is rather busy looking. Right click
on the image on the right side of the screen, and select "View
Image" so you can enjoy just the image and not all the flashing
advertising crap. Sorry I cannot direct link to just the photo,
as they reload their crap if I do.
