Default OPERATING SYSTEM FAILURE. Your reply to my problem

Thank you for your reply to my OPERATING SYSTEM FAILURE
post. I don't know if reloading of Windows XP formatted
my hard drive. Windows XP was running on my computer for
over a year and was fine until this happened. I tried
booting from the Windows XP CD (it was an upgrade) and it
kept starting the installation process but never
completed it.
What if I take out the C drive from this computer and put
it as a slave to another computer after that computer is
already booted? Can I see if my C drive has files on it?

If they did reformat it (or if reloading Windows XP up to
where it quit on me did reformat it) can I retrieve my
files anyway from the hard drive as I understand that
this is possible? If so, how do (or who do I contact) to
do this. Thanks again for your reply.

The hd could be formatted but with no OS,or in raw state,it doesnt
matter if it tried and failed youre files are most likely history. You can
boot to xp cd,recovery, press enter for password,at cmd screen type:
DiskPart The condition or state of the hd is shown, type:EXIT when
thru, then at cmd screen type:EXIT Let xp reboot, the reboot to xp cd,
reinstall,new installation,delete partition,create,let xp install.
