Default XP Pro - can't download Flash Player

Is there a reason Adobe Flash Player can't be downloaded with a new update
to IE7 on an XP Pro computer?

Have you tried downloading the stand-alone copy of Adobe Flash? I have a
similar problem, movies stop playing in the middle or where ever of the
video. Not to degrade IE7 but have you tried it on FireFox?

Have you tried the standalone installer ?

http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html

Get the one near the top - flash_player_update1_flash10.zip (41.8MB)

In my ZIP tool, the files of interest would be

Players/Release
Install Flash Player 10 ActiveX.exe (installs Flash in IE)
Install Flash Player 10 Plugin.exe (installs Flash in Netscape/Firefox etc)
FlashPlayer.exe (A standalone version of Flash)
Install Flash Player UB.dmg.zip (Flash for Macintoshes and MacOSX)

so the top two installers are most likely to be of use.

HTH,
Paul

No, I downloaded it and installed it. Is your computer up to date with the
updates and .net framework?

Yes, I have both. Prefer FF but . . . I'm getting some red Xs in movies,
etc. (don't search Internet but news items, etc.)

It's a friend's, who had to run everything to keep their computer going
(it's stable now) but I'm sure Active X is not running. They had not
downloaded updates, and besides Trojans galore there were viruses - they
were using an AV program from Best Buy (never heard of it). I was visiting -
the blind leading the blind - but I went out to TrendMicro (after running
OneCare which quarantined the Trojans) and that removed them.

Turned on Windows Defender, and left One Care and Auto Updates for now -
they're 370 miles away. They're happy - I nearly lost their desktop 3 times
in the beginning and no settings were holding, so I suspected the trojans
and a virus - but I'm blind, so . . . need I say more?
