XP Pro loses domain security
you may also want to check the duplexing settings on both the local
machine's NIC and the switch. If there is a mis-match or if they are improperly auto-negotiating then problems like this can happen. I would hard code both the NIC and the switch port to make sure this is not your problem. Chris "chris" wrote in message ... I have a W2K mixed mode domain. Right now the PDC is the only W2K server, it is also the primary DNS and has SP3. Everything is fine except for the XP machines. The most problematic machine has SP1 on it and all the MS patches and updates. In total there are about 3 XP machines on the network now with more to come. The XP machine joins the domain just fine and user access rights work accordingly for an undetermined amount of time, could be a whole day, could be an hour, but sooner or later they all lose access to shared network folders. Access has been granted to these users explicity and through groups... same outcome. The fix has been to logoff and logon again. Does this sound like it has to do with DNS at all? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks |
