Default Laser Printer Recomendation

Consumer Reports (Feb 03) tested only three laser printers:

Best:

Brother HL-1440, $300,
Comment: Fastest text printing and lowest per-page cost of the tested
models. Quieter than most. Has parallel port.

Second:

HP LaserJet 1000 , $250,
Comment: Fast and low-priced text. Scanner attachment available. Has
parallel port.

Third:

HP LaserJet 1200se , $400
Comment: Fast and low-priced text. Scanner attachment available. Has
parallel port. Noisier than most. No on/off switch or low-toner warning.

As far as working with XP, they didn't say, but I'd venture a guess that any
printer sold today must need to work with XP.

I'm trying to find a good personal laser printer that will work with
Windows XP and I'm having trouble finding one. Any recommendations?
