Default Cannot boot into Windows XP. PLEASE HELP

no if you reinstall windows it should not delete all data
on your drive
if you choose the option not to overwrite file system at
startup when you start installation process
when you reinstall make sure disk is clean and undamaged
-----Original Message-----
For some reason when I restarted my computer recently.
When it went to boot up the following message appeared.

"Windows could not start because the folling file is
missing or corrupt: \windows\system32\config\system"

Does anyone have any clue how I can fix this?

If I reinstall XP will it delete my C: drive do it?

Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED

Thanks all
