Default Windows 10 keyboard shortcuts

For the Mac, there's a neat utility that run in the background called
Cheat Sheet.

https://www.grandtotal.biz/CheatSheet/

If you hold the command key down long enough, a dialogue box pops up
that shows all the current keyboard shortcuts available to you at that
point in time.

Does anyone know of a similar utility for Windows? Or a good search
phrase to find one?

Try keyboard shortcut software or just keyboard shortcuts.

I haven't tested this, but here's an example of what I think you're
looking for. This should help with your search terms.

Hi, Rene,

Unfortunately, that gives you lists of the shortcuts, not software to
install, from what I end up with.

Hi, Monty,

Thanks for trying, but just one of many lists out there.

Hi, Char,

Product has been discontinued. :-( The last version doesn't support
anything after W7.

Based on the screenshots, I don't think it does exactly what CheatSheet
does, which is what I'm after.

I had no intention of using it myself, but since you said it was
discontinued and didn't support anything after Win 7, I decided to go
ahead and download it and use it on Win 10. It worked fine. ;-)

If you mean, does it run in the background all the time, ready for you
to press a certain key combo so it can tell you all of the currently
configured hotkeys, then no, it doesn't do that. Instead, when you want
to see a list of all of the configured hotkeys, you run the program, it
queries your Windows system, and it provides a list of each of the key
combos that it checked, indicating which are currently configured and
which are still available.

That's probably better than what you're describing, but better is in the
eye of the beholder.

Did I mention that it's still available and that it works on Win 10? If
not, at least you know that your primary search term will be "hotkeys"
and not "shortcuts", so that should help. Good luck in your search.

This is what I'm looking for, and running in the background.

Just to make sure we are on the same page...

CheatSheet shows the active keyboard shortcuts available to you when you
are active in a particular program, not all configured hot keys on the
system. So, the popup you see when you are using Thunderbird, as I am
now, is different than the popup when I'm in Firefox. Still different
again when in Skype. And different when I'm on the desktop.

Instead, when you want
to see a list of all of the configured hotkeys, you run the program, it
queries your Windows system, and it provides a list of each of the key

Ok, got it. According to the site I initially linked above, that's not
possible with Windows. They give a few more details at the link above.
Who knows, maybe someone else figured out a way to do it, such as the
Nirsoft guy. Good luck.
