Default Vista back to XP

Hi,

I have tried to reformat my Vista back to Win XP but the computer is having
none of it, can anyone tell me how to get round a new install.

Insert XP CD. Restart computer. Tell the computer to boot from CD.

Have tried this but it keeps coming up saying that Vista version is newer
version than XP and will not proceed.

Which means you are NOT booting from the XP CD - you are trying to install
XP from within Vista.
You need to restart the machine with the XP CD in the CDROM drive and on
boot-up select "boot from CD". How you do this will vary depending on your
make of computer. For example on Toshiba laptops you need to press F12 to
enter the boot menu.... consult the documentation for your particular
machine to ascertain how you do this.
