Does anyone know of any good DVD burner hardware out there compatible with Windows XP?

I really don't care - top post, bottom post. Although I do like the use of judicious snipping regardless of the posting style. Absolutely! Some people complain that bottom posting makes them scroll all the way down to read the message. I usually reply that top posting is even worse because it makes me scroll *twice*--first down to read the question, then back up to read the answer. But if you snip enough, evrything fits on a single screen and I can see both the question and answer at once. Then it hardly matters whether you top post or bottom post. -- Ken Blake - Microsoft MVP Windows: Shell/User Please reply to the newsgroup |

You still have the option of starting it in Wizards mode. LOL. The last time I used EZ Creator, its wizard crashed Windows. So I crashed it to the trash bin. I think most people read the first entry to get the question and then if it is of interest start reading the replies. They already know the question so why bother sticking it before what you really want to see - the answer. I have seen lots of snipping where the original question was long gone. billh |

Many, if not most, newsgroup particpants, hide already read messages. I do, for example. If I didn't, I would have thousands of messages in a big newsgroup to scroll through every time I went there. I'm not willing to do that, and when I go to a newsgroup, I want to see *only* those messages I haven't seen before. If a message doesn't have a quote of what's gone before, and if that quote isn't readily accessible, the message is unintelligible and I typically quickly pass it by. -- Ken Blake - Microsoft MVP Windows: Shell/User Please reply to the newsgroup |

Not only that, but I would add that often a response is intended for a specific comment/question within the thread, not specifically to whatever was said in the original post, so if that comment/question is at the bottom, one really does find it necessary to scroll to the bottom, read the relevant passage, and then go back to the top to view the response. |

Actually, I don't quite agree. Here's an example: lots of people had no trouble with Pinnacle Studio 8. If theirs were the only posts I read, I would have blamed myself and gone crazy trying to figure out what I was doing wrong. Luckily, people who decided they had the right to contradict those who had no problem saved me that trouble, and when my Pinnacle gave me troubles, I just sacked it... Of course, it would be more intellectually honest and more useful to the readers to say "I've had all this trouble..." or "Many people report that..." or whatever, rather than the blanket pronouncement that "It's a piece of crap". And these contradictions were based on what? Perhaps lots of people had no problem with PS8, but somebody had to have had some, otherwise there would be no need for anybody to contradict "it works fine for me" statements.. I have no problems with calling crap "crap". My objection is to making blanket statements based on historic reputations as opposed to present-day evidence. |

I just finished an idiotic argument somewhere else, and I really don't feel like getting into another one here. But just in case you are not aware, if I create a disk that works problem free, then it is not broken, regardless of what you want to believe. 2) The user does not want to admit they have wasted their money on crap, so they lie about it. NO money involved. Your statement is useless. Visit CDFreaks - those people tell it damn straight.
