Add/Remove hardware should let you install hardware, you
will need to select and install the drivers and configure
IRQ settings. The device may or may not function under XP
since XP does not allow or support some of the older
hardware protocols.

List the name and model of the hardware you want to install
and somebody may know the exact info.

As long as there exist a driver and you can install the non-PnP device, Yes,
you can install the device.

However there are a few exceptions:

1) Any device that requires to be connected directly to a serial/parallel
may not work. XP is based on NT, which did not allow direct access to the
hardware. Example of devices: Software security plug on a parallel port
(like for AutoCAD software)
Parallel port devices, other than printers
(scanner, ZIP drives)

Sometimes, you can download a special device driver which may
allow this work. I forgot the name.

2) Any device that requires a DOS driver to be loaded before accessing
Windows. XP does not have any DOS mode, besides the DOS Prompt window when
usinf "CMD.EXE"
