Default Two new problems

Hi
Using WinXP home sp3.

My home page has been hijacked by www.safesearch.byethost4.com and I can not
change it back to my usual web page. Also my system restore has stopped
working. Thought I had nothing else to do but revert to an earlier time but
none of the restore points work.

Have Kaspersky 2009 installed.

Any help would be appreciated.
Regards Bill

Default Two new problems

Back again
Ran Malwarebytes and it found a Homepage Hijacker, so that problem is fixed.
Still have the System Restore not working problem. Could it be some sort of
conflict with Kaspersky?
Bill

If the system is running ok now, delete all of the system restore points,
and then create a new one..

Mike

The solution most likely lies in disabling Kaspersky before attempting to
restore. What you suggest would, however, make testing system restore
painless.

Default Two new problems

Hi Mike/Gerry/Daave

I deleted all restore points, disabled System Restore and rebooted. Enabled
System Restore and created a new restore point.I then created a test folder
on the desktop. I did this with Kaspersky enabled. Carried out the restore
to the new point and the folder had gone and the restore was completed
successfully. I did the same test with Kaspersky disabled and again the
restore was completed successfully.

It would seem that the problem has gone but I will test again in a couple of
days to make sure.
Regards Bill
