Maybe someone can tell me how to get Settings/Default apps to list those
available to choose from. Googling didn't help since nothing is listed to
choose from. On the list under Email there is no OE6 which is installed on
that PC. And under Web Browser there is only MS Edge which I depise.
MozillaFireFox is not listed. There are no choices there.

Everytime I click on a link MS Edge opens. I want MFF to open, not MS Edge.
How can I make MFF my default browser? This is W-10 Home.

Are you on a smartphone?
On a PC, you would right-click on the link and choose "open with". In
the case of a web link, you would then go through an arduous process of
convincing Microsoft you really really want some other browser to open
your web links.

It's a LP PC. How do I bring up "open with?" Right-click doesn't have
that choice. The choice is "select all" or "save target as."

When I tap a link MS Edge opens. There is no "open with." No choice.

To make Firefox the default browser in Windows, see below.

If you are clicking on links in email, then your email program could
have its own settings for which browser to use. Check your email
program's settings.

TO MAKE FIREFOX THE DEFAULT BROWSER IN WINDOWS

1. Go to Start Settings Apps Default Apps

2. Under "Web Browser", click on the icon of the current default web
browser. You should get a pop-up with a list of web browsers
installed on your PC, similar to this screen-shot:
https://i.imgur.com/QX6S412.png

3. If you don't see Mozilla Firefox in the list, then Mozilla Firefox
may not have been installed properly on your PC. The Firefox
installer needs to set the correct registry settings to appear
as a choice in default apps.

3.1 The Firefox installer needs to run as Admin so it can set
the registry settings to appear as a choice in default apps.

3.2 If you are using "Firefox Portable", then AFAIK those
registry settings are not set.

Try downloading the full Firefox installer from
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/
and using it to re-install Firefox. When you run the installer,
be sure to provide an Admin password at the UAC prompt.

A longplaying PC? When you ask a question, you need to spell out
acronyms the first time. Especially if they are not obviously
mainstream.

How do I bring up "open with?" Right-click doesn't have that
choice. The choice is "select all" or "save target as."

I am really not familiar with opening web links outside of a
browser, except on my smartphone. How often do you do that on a PC?
Why not open your browser and open web links from "favorites" or
"bookmarks"?

When I tap a link MS Edge opens. There is no "open with." No
choice.

That is a simple matter of changing your default browser?

Search Google for (Make Firefox your web browser). Jillions of
answers.

The answer is very easy to find.

I see two choices.

1. Use Edge to download either Firefox or Pale Moon and then install
which ever browser you choose. You will probably find the install
file in the Downloads folder.

2. Phone a friend and ask if they would download your browser of
choice and take a USB stick around to their house and copy the file
to it.

I have used the first choice when I helped some non-technical friends
with a similar concern.

Just curious...if "Outlook Express for Windows 7, 8, and 10" is installed
on that machine, have you ever had to reinstall it after an auto-update
of Windows 10? runasxp states that the Win10 auto-updates will
disable/uninstall this look-a-like OE6 program.

There is NO official Outlook Express for 7, 8, or 10 so don't waste your
time. Microsoft has created an APP for these OS so if you are curious
then use it or find something else.

Microsoft Outlook is available but at a price while Thunderbird is still
free. Post any questions about Thunderbird in the appropriate newsgroup
on Mozilla provision.

I don't know the answer with respect to that program, but one of the
terrible things about Windows 10 is that it does that to many such
programs--for example, the Windows 7 games, which i frequently have to
reinstall
(https://winaero.com/blog/get-windows...r-windows-10/).

I got 6 updates on 2/28 on this new LP, the one I'm on now, and none removed
OE. But since I learned that that can happen, I'm leery about allowing more
updates. I'm putting up with a very annoying MS popup wanting to install
updates. I'm not given a choice as to which ones. I resent that because
some updates cause problems and others just take up HD space since I don't
use the MS office apps. I would need to waste time removing them. I like to
chose which ones download.
