Default Virus Help

I think I'm having problems with a virus. My computer is
running a little slowly. When I go into Word and try to
open a file on the hard drive, none of my folders pop up
in the window. My screen saver (Flying Through Space),
well doesn't move, so the computer never goes into
hibernation. Finally, the worst part is that when I try
to run Norton, the window closes down, so I can't search
for it on there. Does anyone know what might be going on?
Thanks
Chris
