Default Closing Port 23/Disabling Telnet

Not sure what kind of conflicts you can run into if you have two firewalls
running. If you disable the McAfee and leave only ICF enabled, what happens
when you test?

Can you telnet to port 23 on this computer successfully from another
computer?

with them up, I can run the port check and port 23 is still
open......

Dont have any conflicts as far as I know. My understanding is that the Windows XP Internet Connection Firewall isn't a true firewall but more of a packet filter. I have the McAfee firewall as a "true" firewall. I haven't tried connecting to my PC with a
nother through telnet 9although that's the exact thing I want prevent other people from doing). The network security on my work computer won't let me access telnet to try the connection to the home PC. I don't know how to use telnet anyhow. I just want
to close the port it uses.

It is my understanding that Telnet is not included in XP Home.

Here's a guide for 'enabling telnet in Windows Vista.'
