After start the winnt folder is showing
When I start the computer instead of seeing my desktop it
always shows the contents of the WINNT folder? Can someone explain how to prevent this from happening. |

After start the winnt folder is showing
Try this: Go to Start All Programs Startup. These are shortcuts to some
of the programs that start with Windows. Do you see a shortcut to the Winnt folder? Simply delete it. Rocky "Paul" wrote in message ... When I start the computer instead of seeing my desktop it always shows the contents of the WINNT folder? Can someone explain how to prevent this from happening. |

After start the winnt folder is showing
Rocky
Thanks for the quick response. I have tried that and the only things in the startup folder are Microsoft office stuff. I was hoping for a quick fix also, I am getting to my wits end it is just annoying to have to close it after startup. Paul -----Original Message----- Try this: Go to Start All Programs Startup. After start the winnt folder is showing
Rocky thanks for the reply and suggestion. I have done
that this morning and the only files in the start menu were MIcrosoft Office files. It is annoying to have to close the screen after startup. After start the winnt folder is showing
Go to Start Run and in the dialog box type 'msconfig' (without the
quotes), then click OK. Go to the Startup tab. These are other programs that start with Windows. Do you see an entry for the Winnt folder? If so, you need to remove this by editing the registry. Caution: Registry editing allows no room whatsoever for error. Before editing the registry, always create a restore point. Go to Start Run and in the dialog box type 'regedit' (without the quotes.) You need to find the Run keys. Look here for help: "A Definition of the Run Keys in the Windows XP Registry" http://support.microsoft.com/default...Product=winxp. One of the sub-keys will contain the reference to your winnt folder. Delete that subkey ONLY. Now quit the registry editor and re-start your computer. If you are unfamiliar or uncomfortable with registry editing, ask a trusted (and knowledgeable) friend to do it for you. Rocky wrote in message ... Rocky thanks for the reply and suggestion.
