Hibernation file
Let me set the stage for this question. My APC UPS via its Power Chute
software puts my machine into the hibernate mode prior to shutting down my computer on a loss of AC Power when the battery in the UPS reaches a low power level. So far, so good and it works perfectly. My question: What happens to the file into which memory is written. Is it removed automatically upon coming out of hibernate or does it still exist waiting for manual removal via Disk Cleanup? If the latter, where is it? Thank you. -- Jack Gillis |

Hibernation file
The hibernate file is always there. If no file exists then the PC can't
hibernate. If you delete it via Disk Cleanup you effectively completely disable hibernation; so if you need to use hibernation with your UPS 'don't' delete the hiberfil.sys file. -- -- John Barnett MVP Windows XP Associate Expert Windows Desktop Experience Web: http://xphelpandsupport.mvps.org Web: http://vistasupport.mvps.org Web: http://www.silversurfer-guide.com The information in this mail/post is supplied "as is".
