MS such just trash Windows Messenger altogether and use 3-partied messenger
service William "Jonathan Kay [MVP]" wrote in message ... Greetings David, This is correct -- the "new" version, MSN Messenger 5, is not an upgrade to Windows Messenger 4.x -- which is why you have both now running. In fact, if you forcibly remove Windows Messenger, Remote Assistance, Whiteboard, and Application Sharing will not function. Which process is causing your CPU Usage to go up (Right-click Taskbar, Task Manager, Processes tab)? ____________________________________________ Jonathan Kay Windows MVP, Messenger Associate Expert http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/ Messenger Resources - http://messenger.jonathankay.com "David" wrote in message ... Hi, I saw a new version of messenger on a friends computer, I installed it on mine and it worked fine. Having said that the old version is still there and is the version called by default etc. If I want to use the latest version I have to load it seperately. I have also noticed with the seperate installation running my cpu usage rockets ? -- David www.PocketASP.net |
