This is part of a reply I made to you on 31 October. Please post copies of all Error and Warning Reports appearing in the System and Application logs in Event Viewer for the last boot. No Information Reports or Duplicates please. Indicate which also appear in a previous boot. From your latest post this is indicative of a Stop Error. C:\DOCUMENT~1\rebecca\locals~1\temp\WER67CoDir00\m ini110207.01dmp A complete copy of the Stop Error Report should be provided Disable automatic restart on system failure. This should help by allowing time to write down the STOP code properly. Right click on the My Computer icon on the Desktop and select Properties, Advanced, Start-Up and Recovery, System Failure and uncheck box before Automatically Restart. Do not re-enable automatic restart on system failure even after you have solved the problem as it's better disabled. Check for variants of the Stop Error message. You improve your chances of resolving your problem when you post factual reports -- Hope this helps. Oh another thing that slows things down enormously is
if the rules for the HD changed to quick remove My computer / right click C: / properties / hardware / (select the disk again) / policies / ``enable write caching'' ought to be checked. If not, it's slowed down a lot. -- On the internet, nobody knows you're a jerk. |

I tried to run anti virus today but it was going so slowly it took 7 1/2 hours, then I stopped it, but up till then it hadnt found any threats. I tried to do disc clean up, to delete temp files etc, but even that took 1 1/2 hours before crashing. Free space is 71% I havent installed anything before this started happening, and Im not sure what I can do to find any cause. I would be very greatful for any advise. Thanks Lel Sounds like a hardware problem. See "Hardware Troubleshooting" at: http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html One other idea: your hard drive may have reverted to PIO mode.
