Default Problem getting 192.168.1.1 on Linksys Router...

I downloaded WinMX and was trying to adjust some parameters. Don't ask what I was thinking, but I accidently changed my IP address (on the main page) to something like 192.168.1.101, and now I cant connect to http://192.168.1.1 at all. :\ Anyone know how I can access it so I can fix the problem? Thanks!

Also, I'm sure the answer is no, but is there anyway to be 100% free of a firewall with a router?

If the linksys is the dhcp server, reset your pc to automatically get IP
address , then release and renew the pc address using ipconfig.

If you're using a router (with PnP turned off) you'll have automatic
protection against incoming.
The only reasons you'd need a firewall on a lan pc is to protect yourself
against other pcs on the LAN or protection against outgoing traffic eg
spyware.

I'm a bit confused, when you say reset my PC, do you mean just re-start it
or re-format it?

I'm using a router but I'm not sure what PnP is or if it's active or
disabled. Sorry, I'm not the best with routers.

hi Liz,

Sorry for not explaining properly.
First make sure everything is set to auto in the TCP properties box for your
network connection.

After you've done that, open a command prompt from the Run dialog
type "ipconfig /release" followed by "ipconfig /renew" to force your pc
to get a new IP address from the router. If this works ok then you should be
able to open a browser to the router as before.

Oops, I meant UPnP and not PnP. Please read the linked site below. I've been
led to believe some UPnP enabled routers may allow passthrough to the
network - I may be wrong.

Liz:

I think he means to restart your PC. If that doesn't work, then try to
point your browser to http://192.168.1.101 to try and connect to the
router...

Liz, If you think you changed the IP of the router to 192.168.1.101 then
just open IE and type in http://192.168.1.101 hit enter and if that was
what you changed it to then you will get the prompt for a username /
password. If that does not work then you'll have to reset the router by
taking a paperclip and hold in the reset switch on the router for about 10 -
15 seconds, NOTE: THIS RETURNS THE ROUTER TO THE FACTORY SETTINGS! All
custom IP, Firewall, ect. will be lost!! Hope this helps. Jeff F
