Access is denied
WHP 64-bit. Only user.
According to Windows Explorer, in my personal folder I have several subfolders. Many of these (such as Desktop, Downloads, My Music) I have full access to. However, there are a number of hidden folders, whose attributes are HSDLI, that I get "Access is denied" when I click on them. These folders, such as Application Data, Cookies, Start Menu, Send To also appear to have a shortcut icon associated with them. When I right click and check on properties, security, and permissions, I appear to have full access. Similarly, in Local Disk C:, I cannot access Documents and Settings. Any idea how I can get access to these folders? TIA |

In Vista and in Windows 7, "Documents and Settings" is not a folder.
Vista/Win7 uses a different file structure than XP does/did. Those familiar folder names you may be used to, like "My Documents", "Documents & Settings", etc. are not folders in Vista/Win7. They are junction points, and are used for legacy programs which were written to utilize the XP file structure. They will redirect the programs to use the equivalent Vista/Win7 folders. If you keep the protected operating system files hidden, you won't see them. In Vista/Win7...... Documents & Settings - \Users My Documents - \Users\youraccount\Documents My Music - \Users\youraccount\Music Application Data - \Users\youraccount\AppData etc. -- Dave N.
