Default 0x000000CA Error. System reboots in loop..

Hello Everyone...

Yesterday evening i plugged in an external hard disk (Western Digital) to my
Windows XP Professional 32 bit PC having the following configuration:-

Intel Core2Duo 2.2 GHz Processor
Intel 945G MotherBoard
2GB RAM
Seagate 250GB SATA HDD
Wireless Keyboard and mouse
CD Writer,
DVD Writer.

After a while it showed the blue screen with the following STOP Error Code
STOP: 0x000000CA (0x00000001, 0x89c03368, ox89c079e0, 0x00000000)

The error message was as follows:-
A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage
to your computer..
Plug and play detected an error likely caused by a faulty driver.

After this i tried restarting the system but it started to restart again
and again when the Windows XP loading window comes.
After this i tried re-installing Windows XP but when it reaches the "Set up
is starting windows", the same screen appears again.
So it is neither booting properly nor letting me install a fresh copy of
Windows XP...

What is the cause of this problem and How can i overcome it..

Please help..
Any help is highly appreciated..
Thanks in advance..

Run a RAM test

if any problems at all show up, you can stop the test...the RAM can be
assumed to be bad

If no problems at all turn up after the test runs for several hours

next step is to go to the wwebsite of your harddrive manufacturer and
get...then run the diagnostic

Default 0x000000CA Error. System reboots in loop..

0x000000CA: PNP_DETECTED_FATAL_ERROR
Which means a bad driver. Use the following to narrow down which one is causing your
issue

Read first before using tool
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=244617&sd=RMVP

Driver Verifier tool is found at Start\Run\verifier
