Wow, so much involved,.. seems most of my
'simple' problems or questions get so complicated.
but as you said, I'm trying to think ahead.

As I said, I have some other things I need to
take care of first which will takes months which
is why I wanted to know just how much time do I have
before I can't find a PSU for the 780 but I
assume the Sparkle will be around for awhile?

So what am I to do for the 780 PSU? I'm not going
to invest in crimpers etc. that's going a bit too
far.

In fact, I only brought up the power supplies
because that's what I had to do to the 8200 to keep
it going among other things with your good help.

If there's no problem getting a power supply say a
year from now I won't worry about it.

Thanks
Robert

Well, a year from now, the spare won't win a beauty
contest, just like now. So nothing will have changed.

Electrically, there should be a solution available.

I'm pretty certain the current supply and the 5V @ 25A
rating, really isn't needed, But I verify that sort of
thing here with my clamp-on DC ammeter. The load inside
the machine is likely at half that level.

Ok then, I'll assume I can get the
PSU's a bit later after I finish my
other projects and consult you then
and get the HD's when I can.

Thanks for all your good advice and
links and for taking the time to explain
things.

I just checked because I'm planning on buying more
HD's next month and they've gone up in price quite
a bit since I last bought one only a month ago.

I guess it's better to buy now before they go any higher.

I'm offered a price of $69.89 here, and I assume
that's USD.

The price of an item could be a function of your
previous purchases. Which is why I like to clean
out browser caches once in a while, just in case
there will be some "browser funny business".

Hmm,. I never thought of clearing cache

I just cleared the cache and gave me the
same price $69.89 whereas I paid $58.99
for the same HD about a month or more ago.
