Default Windows XP Service pack 3 performing Cleanup

How long does this process take? The install seems to have finished and all
virus software has been disabled, but this performing Cleanup screen is
taking forever. Is this normal?

If you do a search on SP3 Performing Cleanup, a few people have had hangs,
where it just doesn't seem to finish. In one other thread I found, someone
waited an hour, and it eventually finished. So something is interfering
with it.

Took well over an hour & a half for the install of SP3 to complete here.

After rebooting TWICE (don't ask, just do it), you may wanna see

It can happen. Go for dinner, and come back to it tomorrow.

Not possible in my house. However I force quit the install app, rebooted,
and went to administrator mode. XP opened some DOS Windows and after I
clicked on my computer and it claims service pack 3 is installed. So I guess
it is.

Now check-in at Windows Update and install any post-SP3 critical updates
offered.
