very doubtful.

have used the program for years as have many others.

were there any other changes made to your system around the same time.

use the program and turn on full prefetch and see if it makes a difference.

I turn off my computer when I go to bed and then start it again in the
morning. Every since I used the program to clear the prefetch folder, XP
doesn't remember all of my desktop settings.

This morning it changed my Sound scheme. I use some custom settings,
like my own sounds, desktop settings. At the morning boot, XP remembers
some of them but it changed my desktop background photo and cleared my
custom desktop photos so I had to Browse to where they are located.

Is this happening because I cleared the prefetch folder?

It's been two days and two reboots since I cleared the prefetch folder
and it also remains empty.

I took at look at the registry key for prefetch:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Session
Manager\Memory Management\PrefetchParameters

The EnablePrefetcher value is set at the default. 3, which is All: The
prefetch caches boot, and application files.

Have I broken something?

This morning it changed my Sound scheme. I use some custom

remembers
some of them but it changed my desktop background photo and
cleared my
custom desktop photos so I had to Browse to where they are located.

Is this happening because I cleared the prefetch folder?

It's been two days and two reboots since I cleared the prefetch
folder
and it also remains empty.

I took at look at the registry key for prefetch:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Session
Manager\Memory Management\PrefetchParameters

The EnablePrefetcher value is set at the default. 3, which is
All: The
prefetch caches boot, and application files.

Have I broken something?

I have a few questions about the program.

The "recommended" setting is "Monitor Boot File
Launch

or I can
also Disable Prefetch. I would like to try that
first.
You've

That sounds like a sex joke or something. Sorry.

Default prefetch query

Having just done a quick test I think that Task Scheduler is responsible
for writing all the files in the prefetch folder, it needs to be set to
Automatic start if you want the prefetch folder to populate.
