Default Accessing Hotmail Account

Since updating Windows XP HE with the latest security
updates I am unable to access my HotMail account. If I
use my laptop computer with Windows 98 SE I have no
difficulty with access. I have also recently added McAfee
Privacy software to my desktop. Any help or suggestions
would be appreciated.

Greetings Carl,

Firstly, verify that your computer's date and time has been set correctly. To do so, just
double-click the clock in the corner of the screen, and verify that the day, month and year
is set correctly.

Then, if you haven't already, clear your Internet Explorer cache and cookies -- open Internet
Explorer, click the Tools menu, then Internet Options, then click the Delete Files button,
and when that's complete click the Delete Cookies button. Then try accessing it again.

I'm not quite sure what McAfee Privacy software does or would do to effect Hotmail, if the
problem persists, you might try uninstalling it, just to see if that is actually the problem.

I tried your suggestion. It did not work. It appears from
reading a number of the other postings that there is a
problem with Windows Messenger and Hotmail.

Hi Carl,

There is no big "problem", although it can seem that way, only because people who post to
this newsgroup, wouldn't post if they didn't have a problem.

What's the exact error you're seeing?

Default Accessing Hotmail Account

The Windows Messenger Screen appears where I can choose
to enter my inbox or send an instant message.

When I click on the inbox it apparently moves to the
getting inbox screen but all I get is a white screen and
my cursor just sits there and my inbox never opens.

Please help.

I used Snagit to make *.bmp files of the screens. How can
I send them to you?

I have found the problem. McAfee Privacy Service was
blocking my hotmail account. As soon as I uninstalled it
I could access my hotmail account. Very interesting!!!
