Security Update XP kb977165
Hello, my automatic updates keeps saying I need to download and install
the Security Update XP kb977165. Problem is that I have clicked OK and it has download and also installed this update now 6 times on my laptop running XP sp3 and after each time it still says the same update needs downloading. Is anybody else having this issue ? |

Security Update XP kb977165

kb977165 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/977165 "For home users, no-charge support is available by calling 1-866-PCSAFETY in the United States and Canada or by contacting your local Microsoft subsidiary." This is classed an "important" (or "high priority) update, NOT a "critical" one. Why do you let anyone change the state of your host without your permission and without your intervention? Configure Automatic Update to only *notify* you of updates so YOU decide if and when to install them. Then you'll know when there is an update so you can first do a system restore point save along with imaging your OS partition so you can recover. You could use Belarc Advisor to see if the update has been installed (or look in Add/Remove Programs with Updates shown). If it has been installed, maybe their detection scheme is flawed, so just go to the Windows Updates site and select to always hide that update in future scans. |
