I like to keep my temporary folders clean and clear them
regularly, lately there's 1 file I can't seem to delete
and of which 1 is added on each reboot. It's in local
settings\temp and looks like this ~df????.tmp (the ?'s
are single character wildcards). Could somebody tell me
what these are, or how I can find out which program is
maintaining a lock on this file?

Regards,
Kees Spierings

Hi

Try and rename the file from a command prompt, then delete it. I'm not =
sure why the file is being re-created. Can you please email me a copy =
of the file?

That's besides the regular file attributes, nothing else.

Yes I found out the same thing at work this afternoon, though there the file
is deleted when word is stopped and the funny thing is that Word is not in
my Windows startup at home, though it's installed on my System. I guess some
component that is invoked at startup must be causing this.. weird.. The file
is being created even though Word is not run, must be some office component.
Is there a decent utility that will allow me to view file locks on XP.

Regards,
Kees Spierings
