Default offline WinXP update

I have a Windows XP Pro machine that I cannot connect to the internet. However, I need to update it to install a program that depends upon Dot Net. How can I download updates on another machine (I have linux boxes and another Windows XP Pro machine) to bring them over to the offline machine? I do not see any option of doing such on the Windows Update website.

Thanks in advance.

First thing you can try to bring the computer online is to make sure you have installed the right drivers for your ethernet controller or network card. If the computer is using an onboard ethernet port, then you will need to get the drivers from the motherboard CD or from the manufacturer website.

Thanks for the tip, but the machine is offline by decision, not by error. I do not want to bring this machine online (there is good reason).

I just need to know how I can download the updates from Windows Update in a way that I can burn them to a disk and retrieve them on the offline machine. I know that this is possible because no sysadmin with 500 winboxes would update each one individually. However, I find no information on the subject on the Windows Update website, and I do not know any windows sysadmins personally.

Thank you! How did you find that?

To tell you the truth, the wording on the website made me suspect that it was not an original Microsoft website. But it may be translated as the update mentioned is not for the English Windows version. But from there I suspect that I will be able to find my version.

Great job! Thank you.

No problem. I thought the same as you when I first found it. Good luck with it!
