Default Dual Boot Problem

I had windows XP and Win 7 on the same hard drive, sadly the xp got
corrupted and I have just done a fresh installation. Now I can only boot
into XP and not into Win 7.

Is there any way or utility out there that is free that will allow me to get
the boot menu back as it was under Win 7 I mean where it gives you the
option to boot to Win 7 or previous version of windows ?????

Many thanks in advance

Steve

EasyBCD:

If the 100MB system partition is still
intact and not corrupted EasyBCD should
allow you to include Windows 7 back.

Read the following article, most likely
Method #2 is what step you will need to perform.

Yes there is a utility that will fix this problem, it's on the Windows 7
install disk. Just put your Win7 install disk in your DVD drive, boot
from it and select your language preferences. Then the next screen
simply press r to repair your computer. After it scans for a valid Win7
installation just click on the items that says something like
Automatically Fix Startup Problems... or something like that, it's been
a while since I last looked at that window.

Many thanks for the info, however i did have an Image file of the drive so I
used that to restore things the way they were but I will remember the tips
for future reference.

In addition to what I had mentioned earlier there is also a way you can
create a bootable Windows recovery disk. Since all it does is repairs
or recovers your Windows installation it boots faster that the install
disk. To create one here's all you have to do, click on the Start menu
- Control Panel, now what you do next depends on which view you're
using. With the Icon view click on Backup and Restore, and with the
category view click on "Backup your computer" which appears under the
System and Security heading on the top left of the screen. Once in the
backup and restore window look on the left side panel and you should see
a line that says "Create a system repair disc" and just click there and
follow the prompts...
