Default NEC DV-5800A not working after Windows XP Pro Install

I've upgraded my DELL Dimension XPS to Windows XP
Professional and since then, my DVD, a NEC DV-5800A is
not working. I downloaded and ran the upgrade to the
firmware from Dell (file BR58356.exe) and that went
smoothly but still not video when I play a DVD (it reads
the catalog on the disk and indicates it's playing but
not video is displayed). Then, I tried to install
enDVDupg.exe from Microsoft but that failed because it
was 'unable to locate my WINDVD installation' but
couldn't find any help for that. I checked Add/Remove
Programs to see if there was a Windows Component I could
install but nothing popped up that looked obvious.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Reinstall your DVD decoding software such as WinDVD or PowerDVD.
