Default Drop down boxes impaired when using Extra Large Font

I recently installed a new Samsung monitor, and drivers. To take
advantage of the higher resolution, and make things easier on my eyes,
I switched the font size from Large to Extra Large. In general it
works fine, but I have noted a problem with some drop down boxes not
working properly. For instance, when I customize the notification
area. When I select Properties, and then Customize, the Behavior
looks normal, however, there is only the current item in the drop down
box. I have seen variations of this in other applications. If I
switch back from Extra Large to Large font, it all works fine. It
isn't hard to switch back briefly to make adjustments, but I was
wondering if there is a better solution? I am running XP Pro SP3.
