windows media player keeps reverting to install screen

every time i try to play a video, i get the windows media player install
screen, when i try to install it is unsuccesful, just reverts back to the
beginning of the isatll sscreen, and justsloops over and over. had been
running great for months. so i rolled media player back to its original
version, then reinstalled media player 9, worked great, for a day, the
next day same problem started, . ive done this ritual 4 times now always
with the same outcome. so i tried the new media player 10, same problem.
the only thing i can think of was that about a few weeks a go i was
getting an avg virus alert for a virus found in wmplayer.exe.

can ayone help with this.

There could be a bug in the system. Go to lavasoft and
down load the free se personal adware program to see if
there are any bugs. There is also moosoft for trogans 30
day trial on that one and try trend micro for viruses.
Norton system works would work fairly well and correct
the problem if you have it. If all else fails you would
probably would have to repair you operating system. I
don't know what kind of operating system you are using
but if it is xp you can repair it using the operating

This means that you do not have registry privileges to write to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer. Do you have SAPinst.exe
on this system? That can cause this problem...
