Default Backup won't let me select destination

When I run ntbackup the 'Backup Destination' is grayed out. The 'backup
media or file name:" is not grayed out, but I can't change the file name.
If I click on Browse, or Start Backup, the comp freezes. If I leave the
Wizard on, it locks up about when I select My Documents.

This WinXP SP2 is a client and I am trying to back up to a root on the
server (also WIn XP SP2) thru a LAN. The root is shared, and this comp
recognizes it as shared, but the backup routine doesn't like any of this.

What to do?

Thx
