Print server question.
I am looking for a wi-fi print server that we can get to from hand
held devices but that will also handle print requests from a wired network. (W/98, XP and W/7) |

(W/98, XP and W/7) There are a number of wireless routers with USB ports on tham into which you can plug a USB printer to operate it from your WiFi and network. Right now I have the printer connected to a PC (XP) on the wired network and I can get to it from an XP laptop via WiFi but not a W/7 laptop and my wife is having trouble getting to it from a mobile device but that may be an operator error. If I do get the WiFi adapter for the printer the path to the printer from my network devices will be "wired" to router to WiFi to printer? |

That has Parallel port and USB ports. If yes - HP JetDirect 2900nw http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...9SIA19P4FK5625 It has; USB, WiFi and Ethernet. Yes HL 5140 My wife has decided she needs blue tooth but I am going to see if I can figure out how to print from the WiFi with a Samsung tablet and phone. She only knows how to do it through MS Cloud and I am not sending data to Redmond WA just to get to a printer 15' away. I am not a "hand held" guy. None of my computers fit in a purse. I found a blue tooth adapter on Amazon but if I can get to this printer from my lap top through the WiFi router and my PC, she should be able to. |
