Default install problem

i have a win xp pro installed. someone else from my family surfed and i
think clicked on some active X and now a search bar has been installed at
the bottom over task bar in my PC... how do i track it, when was it
installed and how do i remove it. i can't find it in add remove programs..
neil.

Get AdAware and SpyBot and run them, both are free for home use.

Try downloading and running spybot SD available from this site it will remove most common toolbars
http://www.spybot-download.com/

If that doesn't get rid of it you can right click the menu bar to look for the toolbar name then use that information to search
through the windows registry to locate the associated entries. If the program is a registered class file you may need to search on
the class ID to complete the removal.
