Longhorn is Vista, Mcrosoft called it Longhorn in the very early stages of
vista. Im thinking they changed it cause Vista in spanish means aspect or
view, like looking through a "Window".

Yes it is. Longhorn is the server for Windows Vista. Like the relationship

Longhorn is the code name for both Vista and the Server coming out later
this year. Vista was Longhorn and Server 2007 was Longhorn Server.

The next one after Longhorn is Vienna (I think, unless I'm getting my code
names mixed up). Needless to say, no release date planned yet.

Um, vista in Spanish means "sight". In *English* it means "view".

Yes, that's what I've always thought.

But one poster here seemed to be writing about them as if they were
different OS's.

Hmmmmmm...

If Longhorn turns out to be far better than Vista can it be modified for
consumer use?

Microsoft has given Windows Server "Longhorn" the release name of Windows
Server 2007. This is similar to the XP/Windows Server 2003 nomenclature.

The two operating systems use basically the same code. It has, however,
been my experience that Windows Server 2007 is rock solid and it lacks
many of the annoyances that make Vista such a bad product.
The Server is readily available from MSDN. The current beta 2 version that
can be downloaded from MSDN is 6001 (An interesting choice of numbers
since the RTM version of Vista is 6000).

Hmmmmmmmmmm...

Beta 3 Server is about to be released.
Note that this OS is intended for professional applications. It works fine
for both desktop and server applications.

Doubtful there will be any significant performance difference since they are
both rooted in the same code.

Also the expected price of Longhorn Server will be prohibitive for most home
users.
Compare to Windows Server 2003:

Well, price it HIGH but make it REALLY EXCELLENT.

I'm tired of these schlock versions.

Many home consumers would pay $1,000 for a system that is REALLY EXCELLENT.

I certainly would...

But no cut-rate cutting of corners.
