Windows updates v Norton IS
I have just (Wed 13th Jan pm) installed the latest automatically downloaded
XP updates, including the usuall malicious software removal tool. After running the installation, I rebooted. Since then Norton Internet Security 2010 has failed to load on bootup, and non of its utilities will run manually. I think I will reinstall Norton, just to be on the safe side. Has anyone else encountered something similar? Any thoughts on what is causing it? Cheers Stuart |

Norton has been known to "break" itself for now apparent reason (to most users.) Download the Norton Removal tool but do not run it yet. Uninstall Norton IS Reboot and then run the Removal Tool Then, re-install Norton Internet Security (if you wish "more problems with the software later!!") |

You are very fortunate. Uninstall anything 'Norton' and forget about it.

Thanks for this. I had to do the full removal, as you suggest, and reinstall
NIS. All now seems to be well. Cheers Stuart "smlunatick" wrote in message ... Cheers Stuart I don't use either of those products, but it would be interesting to see if MRT put any useful info in: c:\windows\debug\mrt.log |
