Disk Manager shows all the partitions without the drive label, it show that
the partitions have 100% blank space etc. In reality the partitions should
have at least 50% data on the drives.

The rest of the drives on the Main System are all OK.

If Disk Managment shows no drive lable it wont be visible in Explorer or My
Computer
I assume this is a used drive that was functioning, you set the jumpers to
master?

This drive was working, and i have done backup, about a week back, the only
issue is that i disconnet the cables when not in use. The product
incidentally is a cheap Chinese Data Casing, I used it more the 5 times
since i purchased it.

If you use the Unplug Icon to eject the device there should not be a
problem.
However if you dont eject it appears that some peoples have had similar
problems.
Perhaps you could try your HD manu checking utility and create the floppy to
test

Thanks for your prompt replies.
I generally work in Windows 2003 where this problem occured (i had used it
earlier in Windows 2003).

I was on the point of throwing the casing in the trash can but decided to
give it a last try, i tested it on Windows XP and it worked. I then rebooted
into Windows 2003 and it was still not working.

You may draw your own conclusions.

What is the hard drive formatted in FAT32 or NTFS? If it is NTFS there may be a
permissions/ownership issue that is not letting you see the files.

I mentioned earlier that i was using this drive in Windows 2003 except that
i was not aware that to disconnect the drive i have to first uninstall the
drive from the window (maybe) using to "Stop" button on the "remove device
safely" option of windows , i don't think type of partitioning has anything
to do with this.

anyway i will check if this is a issue that needs to be looked at.

Have you checked AutoMount?
