Windows XP Hotfix (SP2)
When I go to Add/Remove Programs in my Control
Panel, I find FOUR entries labeled Windows XP Hotfix (SP2), each of which takes up 24.06 MB of space. Each one has a diferent number following the "(SP2)": Q329834, W329390, Q329115, and Q329047. Do I really need all of these big files? There are also 28 other Windows XP Hotfix entries, a number of which have "(SP2)" following them, but none of these seem to be taking up a big chunk of space like the four in question. Thanks for any help you can give. |

Windows XP Hotfix (SP2)
These are the automatic Windows updates are it is recommended not to
uninstall them. They are "fixes" to Windows XP. The (SP2) indicates that the hotfix might be included with the next service pack, released in 2004. SP2 indicates Service Pack 2. Y. Windows XP Hotfix (SP2)
Hi, don't pay attention to the space it "says" they take up. Its not right.
"Hotfixes" are the updates you installed from the Windows Update website. Do not be tempted to remove them or you will uninstall the actual updates. If you wish to safely remove the "uninstall files" for the Hotfixes (i.e. $NtUninstallQxxxxxx$ files shown in Windows Explorer) and cleanup your Add/Remove Programs list, visit MS-MVP Doug Knox's excellent website for instructions. Remove Hotfix Backup files and the Add/Remove Programs Registry entries http://www.dougknox.com/xp/utils/xp_hotfix_backup.htm "Betty" wrote in message ...
