Windows 6.x? It's Windows versions 1 through ME that run on top of DOS.

Windows 6.0 is Vista.

I liked DrDOS alot myself..

IIRC DrDOS had support for huge volumes (above 32MB) before MSDOS did.
This involved a version of FAT16 that used 32 bits (instead of 16) for
some things like sector count.

but, it wasn't for everybody. And, I think
you meant win3.x/9x and me, right? [g

Windows started with v1.
BTW, Win 1 would run (very slowly) on a 8088 PC.

Windows was a little more than a
fancy menu system it invoked time slicing so to a certain extint,
running multiple programs at what you thought was the same time was
possible.

It also switched the processor into protected mode (I know, not all
the time), which allowed access to 32GB of RAM, instead of the DOS
maximum of 1MB.

Oh geez, brain fart! I meant 4GB of course. 32-bit addressing.

you are quite silly. any op system will not stop a virus.
Which side of the bed did you get up on tis morning.

And if you have not tried NO VIRUS THANKS, then you need to.
Small size files that will rid you of just any problem you get.
As in yet, there is also Avira.... Germans always did do it better.
In just about all tools.

I am relieved to see that TOPS-20, RSX11M, VMS, RSTS, and RT-11 are not on
the list.
