Default Explorer Duplicate Listing

I post this about every month or so to see
if anyone has a new good idea or perspective.

There are 2 completely identical branches,
each from C:\Program Files\ ...

The 1st behaves as the branch should. The 2nd mirrors the 1st
identically BUT nothing can be accessed from there.

Any changes to the 1st are identically reflected in the 2nd. It is
indeed a mirror of the 1st. A completely identical repeat of the 1st
but again, nothing is accessible through the 2nd.

Would really like to eliminate this 2nd duplicate listing but it and
everything under it is strictly non-accessable.

Ideas ?

A new perspective is that the user of the computer is mentally deranged
and he or she should seek medical attention quickly. In the meantime,
he or she should stay away from the screen.
