Default Best way to move audio from iPod to and from Windows 10

My friend just called to say she be coming over tomorrow morning to give me
a old ipod nano because she doesn't use it any more.

I've never tied an ipod to my Windows 10 computer.

All I want is to work the iPod nano to Windows 10 without using iTtunes
.. If possible, I like to take the old songs off (all are free MP3 songs)
.. Then I like to put youtube-dl download MKV/MP4 audio files on the iPod

Any suggestion for how to do that without installing itunes?

My friend tell me she used sharepod on the iPod nano so that I do not need
or want to put anything on Windows 10.

Unless you have better idea which is newer and may be better?
Reading for sharepod is here http://www.sharepod.com

try glue. it's not as ugly as duct tape.

All I want is to work the iPod nano to Windows 10 without using iTtunes

There are people who understand your predicament.

If you hate iTunes, the SanDisk Clip Jam is
the best bargain music player you can buy."

You might want to pick one of those up, before
they disappear from the market.

Make sure to use *strong* rope, because if you don't want to use iTunes,
you'll end-up hurling the iPod really hard ...

A lot of trouble to avoid using a simple bit of software like iTunes.
Sounds like Apple phobia.

Anyway, I'm leery of advice from people who can't spell. What else
can't they do?

I like that article which understood "Putting music on your iPod using
Windows normally require having to use iTunes, which can be a real pain in
the but if you hate using extra software for something that should be as
easy and dragging and dropping."

But I found easy way with no software to install.
Worked perfect!
Already done.

Took longer to write this than to move all files both way with no itunes!

You use itune so you live in prison with no see through thick wall.

Answer was so easy that no software needed.
Am to write report which is more work than move music thousand files!

I back up thousand of old songs from two ipods of friend.
Put all my audio on both ipods.

No restriction. Zero prison.

No library poop that is itune prison you live in and can not see outside
thick wall.

Only one question to you Mr. Paul.

Good to know, and it only people took a decade or so (from the 6th gen
classic which first supported winXP) to figure it out :-)

It may be looking at the MTP declaration coming from the Nano,
and looking for the MTP Class driver to install.

In some cases, the user manual of devices like the Nano
will say:

1) Install drivers
2) *Then* plug in device

Some USB devices, it's safe to plug them in first.

On other devices, you must install the drivers first, so
that the last installed drivers are "preferred" and get used.

Some driver installer packages even include a little
animation. When the driver installation step is
complete, the animation makes a motion of plugging
in the device, so the user will quickly get the idea
that it's time to plug it in.

If the "gift" you've received came with a box, you
might want to read the manual and see if iTunes
is supposed to be installed first.

On an OS like Win10, I don't understand why the MTP driver
isn't all ready to go. It shouldn't involve the same charade
as in the WinXP era, where the only way to get MTP was
to install WMP11 or something. Win10 should really have
that driver on the installer DVD and on the C: drive.

The "search for a driver" step, also allows the most recent
driver to be installed. The OS likes to do that sort of
thing, for video cards. My Win10 is always pestering me
about the video card driver, which I ignore since I know
the card is now officially out of support. Any driver updater
that runs, is just going to be disappointed.

*******

You need to research two things:

1) The official way to install a Nano.
2) The unofficial way to install a Nano.

For work like you're doing, I would be using
my "rubber gloves and hazardous materials" method.
Which would include backing up the C: drive. If I
made a mistake in (1) or (2), I could restore from
backup and try again.

I do stuff like this, to get the very best outcome possible.

But if you do not have an ignorant and irrational fear of iTunes, the
Sandisk is an utter piece of **** that is barely functional.

It's hard to imagine that nothing at all
Could be so exciting, could be this much fun

There are many such 'leery of advice from people who can't spell' type
tools. The most general and most useless: the tool called "Be leery of
anyone's advice if they fail in anything at all". Presumably your tool
is tried and tested. Does it predict that that barking mad man in the
Oval Office is a bad speller (or does it only work the other way in
prediction)?

The itunes is for you if you like prison food and if you like to follow
prison rules which only let you do what prison rules say.

The sharepod is freedom from itunes prison rules.
