Default Removing windows messenger

I do not use windows messenger. I do not want windows messenger. It takes
up room in my system tray. I tried using KB article 328326 to get rid of it
but that doesn't appear to do the trick. Any suggestions?

Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Add/Remove Windows Components... remove
it.

Hello,

You can disable Windows Messenger from starting up in the Messenger Options.

Otherwise, if you want to permanently remove it, follow the instructions
