Win7 still slow
"Annie Woughman" wrote in message ... I upgraded my Vista 32 bit desktop machine to Windows 7 because it was supposed to be less of a system hog. However, in the morning when I start up the three machines in our office, the two XP machines (both have less ram and slower processors and are loaded with basically the same software) are always up and running several minutes before the Windows 7 machine. I must admit I am disappointed. Do I have to do a clean install to get the faster start-up, or will that make any difference? I REALLY don't want to redo this machine. It takes days to get everything re-installed and my settings where I like them. Several minutes? How many is "several"? Did you run the Win7 advisor before upgrading the Vista PC? Have you checked for any Win7 drivers from the PC manufacturer? Was the PC running well when it had Vista on it? I upgraded my notebook to Win7 from Vista, and it takes less than 1-1/2 minutes from power on to functionality, about the same amount of time as my XP desktop. SC Tom |
