msmsgs problem in xp messenger
Greetings Kim,
No one has "hacked" your machine -- you've probably installed DirectX 9.0, which among other problems, has an issue with Messenger and the Internet Connection firewall which creates large numbers of the msmsgs entries, and makes Messenger "laggy". To fix, remove all the 'msmsgs' entries in that box by clicking each one and then clicking Delete. Then, install DirectX 9.0a to fix the problem: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/dir...oads/drx90.asp ____________________________________________ Jonathan Kay Windows MVP, Messenger Associate Expert http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertzone/ Messenger Resources - http://messenger.jonathankay.com "Kim" wrote in message ... when i go to the advanced tab of my internet connection with the default xp firewall on and go to settings i find that i have more and more msmsgs services running the longer i spend opening exporer pages or d/l mail. i stumbled upon this after trying to figure out why messenger had become laggy lately.if i delete them from this list or through the registry sure enough they come back. has someone hacked my machine? nortons and adaware dont pick anything up.any help or ideas would be appreciated. thanks |
