Default Can't install printers?

Trying to set up Windows 8 Pro and I'm unable to get either printer to
install????

1. HP LaserJet 6L, I have a LPT to USB cable, it installs itself in XP,
Vista, Windows 7 but will NOT install in Windows 8! No matter what I
try it says it's installed but will not print a test page.

2. Konica Minolta Magicolor 2400W. Again, a USB printer. The disk
that came with it works for XP, Vista, Windows 7 but will NOT install
in Windows 8! Again, it says it's installed but when I try to print a
test page it pops up an error.

Manufacturer's website is no help, hoping someone here can figure it
out?

Did you try to allow Windows 8 when setting up the printer to use Windows Update to update the drivers or choose the option to
install drivers included in Windows 8 for each device.

Yes, no help there.

I ran the setup CD for the Konica Minolta again this AM and it worked
without error (!) and the printer is now working! I have no idea why
previous attempts refused to install the drivers?

Now back to the LaserJet 6L, gotta get it working or re-install Windows
7, the 6L is essential!

Just installed it manually, the problem I was having is that Win8
installed it with the wrong driver and it refused to work, I deleted it
in the printers folder and kept having problems. Today, I opened
Device Manager and it was installed (with the wrong driver!) there so I
deleted it, went back to the printers folder, installed it manually and
all is well!

Thanks for the help!
