Yes, usenet seems split into people who hold-on to the view that it
should be kept 7 bit pure ASCII, and those who have moved on :-)

It's not a matter of opinion; there are parts of usenet that _are_ just
7 bit. If you want non-ASCII characters to pass through those bits,
you've got to encode them somehow - UUcode, MIME, and HTML all have
their followers and detractors. Adding headers that _say_ it's something
beyond 7-bit won't help the messages get through the more geriatric
parts of usenet unscathed.

To be extra pure, I only use 6 bits.

I don't know about you guys, but for Usenet, I'm using Forte Agent
V.1.93, whose latest copyright date is 2002.

and did it show the thorn character with bar Ꝥ?

I considered switching to latest Agent (I stopped using it with v1.x)
and downloaded the latest 30 day trial, oh my god it looks ghastly
running on a modern windows, cosmetically it seems identical to when it
was on Win95

If you're DSCP in an IP ToS world, 6 bits is all you get.
(At least it's the upper 6 bits, so there's that.)

@4ax.com:

all the pictures are in the DCIM/101Photo directory.
What does 101Photo mean?

It looks like the name you used when you tried to rename the folders on the
SDcard.

You said in another post: "I thought it would be efficient to rename the
directory in the camera and create a new one with the name 101Photo."

I didn't choose the name first. I only named the new one that because
that's what the original one was named.

The same directory name is used in the camera and the phone, so I'll
bet it has some significance. Maybe the first digital storage of
photos involved 101 Dalmations, or something like that.

I dont think so but there are a lot of settings I don't understand.

I considered switching to latest Agent (I stopped using it with v1.x)
and downloaded the latest 30 day trial, oh my god it looks ghastly

Hey, that's great. Like wearing a pair of comfortable shoes.

I have to say that when the browswers are slow or freezing, and even
Eudora can slow dow, Agent is always working. It gives me something
to do other than Solitaire when the others are stymied.

Capital Eth Alt-0208; Capital Thorn Alt-0222; small eth Alt-0240;
small thorn Alt-0254.

BUT: those aren't really ASCII, which only goes to 127 (7F), though the
next 128 are often referred to as "extended ASCII", but don't display
the same to all; and, they may get corrupted as they pass through
various parts of usenet, and news client software. They may get
converted to a sequential representation of their code in printable
characters (0xFF, $255, A$255, etc.), to different characters, to pairs
of different characters, to a common "unknown character" character (a
square or question mark are common), or to nothing at all.

shurely someone could use that in a smiley (8 =8-?

(-:

FUs dropping photography.

Agreed, hence FUd to this post not the last one.

Unlike thorn, "ye" is a word," not a character. There are no ASCII
codes for words.

Sorry for switching to HTML

I was looking for the "y" looking part of "ye" that looks
like* * or ye as us* "e olde coffee shoppe".

A great video on ye:
