Default restoring deleted file

I have windows xp home ed. service pack 1 and i
accidentally deleted System32.exe from the
C:\Windows\System32 folder. Does anyone know how i can
restore this program file? The file isn't in my recycle
bin either. Please don't tell me i have to reinstall
windows xp because i just installed it a week ago.

You appear to have a virus infection on your PC. System32.exe is not a
Windows file.

If you go to Symantec's AV site he
http://www.symantec.com/search/
and search on "system32.exe", you will find that there are seven
viruses/worms/trojans that use that filename. Similarly Sophos' site at
http://www.sophos.com/search/index.cgi reports 34 such nasties.

No, you don't want that file. It's a virus, and one you probably
got rid of recently. You're now left with a reference to it that
you also need to remove. Read
http://securityresponse.symantec.com...ot.c.worm.html
and, assuming that you've already gotten rid of the virus, pay
particular attention to step 4 in the section headed "removal
instructions," near the bottom.
